Northern Territory Police continue to call for witnesses following a death in Katherine overnight.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys said police have identified the victim as a 46-year-old Katherine man.

“Whilst the investigation remains ongoing, there is information to suggest the fire started accidently.

“We are currently working with a number of people who have come forward with information.”

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the moments before or during the fire, which occurred around 8:00pm in the vicinity of United Fuel Station on the Victoria Highway, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
