Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses following an aggravated assault in Katherine.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said around 8:20pm yesterday Police and St John officers were notified of an injured woman lying in an alley way between the Katherine River bridge and Kalano Community.

“The woman had multiple stab wounds to her body. Careflight transferred her to Royal Darwin Hospital where she is in a serious but stable condition.

“We are calling for any witnesses who may have been in the area between 6:00pm and 8:00pm to come forward.”
