Call for information – Suspicious Fire - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information following a suspicious fire in Alice Springs on Friday night, 11 November.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell said that police were alerted to the fire by security patrolling the area.

“We are calling for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on Brewer Rd between 10:15pm and 10:45pm to please contact police,” he said.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a light coloured sedan or hatch that was observed leaving the scene shortly after it was reported to the Police.”

The NT Fire and Rescue Service responded with two fire appliances and a Tanker from the Alice Springs Rural Volunteer brigade.

Crews were successful in conducting a defensive operation to contain the fire.

The fire was contained at 3:00am, with crews remaining on scene until 8:30am.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing and at this stage Police and Fire Investigators are examining suspicious circumstances.
