Assault on a Health Worker - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 51-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted a 31-year-old employee at the Alice Springs Hospital yesterday.

Superintendent Peter Gordon said that Police were called to the hospital by staff after the assault.

“The offender became enraged after receiving treatment for a seizure.

“He punched a female once to the face, causing her to fall backwards.

“She sustained minor injuries.

“The man was charged with:

  •  Assault a worker who is working in the performance of her duties and suffered harm.

“He has been remanded into custody to appear at the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 7 January 2016.

“This is another case where a health worker has been assaulted whilst trying to help a victim. This is appalling behaviour and will not be tolerated,” said Superintendent Gordon.
