Alice Springs Police have charged a 46-year-old male following an assault on a 40-year-old female yesterday.

Police allege the offender used a tyre iron and a rock in the assault. She was taken to Alice Springs Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man has been charged with:

• Engage in conduct that contravenes Domestic Violence Order
• Assault a female
• Armed with an offensive weapon at night

He will appear in Alice Springs Court today.
