Alice Springs Police have charged a 47-year-old male following two separate assaults upon his 51-year-old partner.

Senior Sergeant Virginia Read, Officer in Charge of the Alice Springs Police station, advised that the alleged assaults took place this week in Alice Springs.

“General Duties Police arrested the male after he assaulted the woman on Tuesday,” she said.

The 47-year-old man has been charged with:

• Aggravated assault (x2)
• Engage in conduct that contravenes a DVO (x2)

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

“Northern Territory Police are working in partnership with the community to reduce domestic violence cases,” said Senior Sergeant Read.
