20 Kilograms of Cannabis Seized – Adelaide River

Northern Territory Police have charged a 42-year-old man following a traffic apprehension in Adelaide River.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Stringer said just after 7:00pm on Saturday (19 March 2016) a white Subaru wagon pulled into a Police checkpoint established on the Stuart Highway near Adelaide River.

“Members spoke to the driver and noticed a strong odour coming from the vehicle. Drug detection dog Yeti was deployed and responded positively to three suitcases in the car.

“Police located 20 kilograms of cannabis divided into 44 cryovac bags in the suitcases.”

The man was arrested and charged with possess and supply a commercial quantity of cannabis.

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
