Youth Arrests – Darwin

Police

Detectives from Strike Force Trident have arrested six youths aged between 13 and 15 after a string of offences from Karama to Tiwi.

Detective Sergeant Mark Bland said in one night the group have allegedly unlawfully entered two residential properties, one business and 25 vehicles.

“From late on Sunday evening until their arrest in the early morning yesterday we have laid 188 charges including unlawful entry, stealing, criminal damage and trespass on the six juveniles.

“Police will allege the damage done to the vehicles along the way is in excess of $10,000.

“A phone call to Police at 3am reporting an intruder on the premises saw General Duties Officers and Trident Detectives flood the suburb of Tiwi with foot patrols and vehicles resulting in the arrest of six juveniles.

“Police believe at least four others may have been with them at the time and are asking anyone with information, however trivial it may seem, to please contact them on 131 444.”

Five of the juveniles will face the Youth Justice Court today.
