Northern Territory Police have charged a 45-year-old woman with high range drink driving following a traffic apprehension in Alice Springs yesterday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson said that staff at a Railway Terrace food outlet alerted Police to an alleged intoxicated patron at around 7:30pm on 23 September.
“The woman was attempting to order food at the drive-through when staff became suspicious of her behaviour. They delayed the presentation of her food and alerted Police.
“Officers attended the scene and the woman was subjected to a breath test, where she returned a high range reading of 0.252 BrAC.
“On further investigation she was found to be driving unlicensed in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.”
She was charged with:
- Driving with a high range BrAC
- Drive unlicensed
- Drive unregistered motor vehicle
- Drive uninsured motor vehicle
She will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court at a later date.
“This is a great example of how the community can support Police to make the roads safer. Whether it is calling Police to identify offenders or just being patient when you are stopped at an RBT station, every little bit helps,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Roberston.
