Woman Charged – Aggravated Assault – Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 27-year-old woman for the alleged assault of a minor in Alice Springs on Thursday 15 October.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the offender was observed in a motor vehicle, chasing the girl on a football oval.

“It is alleged that the offender kicked the victim whilst she was on the ground, and then dragged her to the vehicle.”

After Police investigations into the matter yesterday, the 27-year-old woman was charged with:

  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Multiple traffic offences including drive whilst disqualified

Bail was refused and the woman will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to violence of any kind. Safety is everyone’s right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.

“Any acts of violence should be immediately reported to Police on 131 444 or 000 in an emergency.”
