Two Northern Territory Police Officers have been awarded the Australian Police Medal in the Australia Day Honours.

Commander Bruce Porter and Superintendent Bob Rennie have been recognised for their outstanding services to the Territory community.

“This prestigious award could not go to two more deserving officers,” said the Acting Commissioner and CEO of the NT Police Fire and Emergency Services, Reece Kershaw.

“Commander Porter is Commander of Police, Northern Command. Superintendent Rennie leads the Major Crash Investigations Unit and Traffic Operations.

“Both officers have long and impressive careers in policing and have between them contributed 59 years to keeping people and communities safe.

“The entire workforce of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Rescue Services extends its congratulations to Commander Porter and Superintendent Rennie.”

The Governor-General awards the Australian Police Medal on the recommendation of the responsible Commonwealth, state and territory ministers.
