Suspicious Vehicles - Darwin

Police

Police are investigating three separate reports of school students in Darwin being approached by persons not known to them.

Territory Duty Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said Police received a report that a man sitting inside a white vehicle outside Dripstone Middle School was calling out to students to approach his car around 2pm today.

“Police also received a report around 7:30am today a man driving a white sedan with a blue door followed a middle school student along Phillip Street, Parap and beeped at the youth.

“Yesterday Police received a report that a man driving a white vehicle of differing description approached a primary school student at Hudson Fysh Flat, Parap around 3:10pm. The man offered the youth a ride in his car, the youth declined the offer and reported it to Police.

"It is important that any such incidents, no matter how minor, are reported to Police immediately and I would encourage all parents across the Territory to sit down with their children and remind them of the ‘four Rs’:
• Recognise the danger
• Refuse any offer
• Run away
• Report it to the first person they feel safe with.”

“Early reports suggest that all males differ in appearance, and all three vehicles whilst reported as white, appear to be different models.

“Police urge anyone with information in relation to these three incidents or anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
