Police have charged two men aged 36 and 25 in relation to stealing in Alyangula early this morning.
Senior Sergeant Alex Brennan said Alyangula Police responded to reports of suspicious persons at approximately 2:00am in the Alyangula Township.
“The responding Officers noticed an abandoned vehicle on a dirt track just outside the Township and observed two men carrying alcohol towards the vehicle.
“The Officers established the alcohol was stolen from unsecured external fridges and arrested the two men.
“It’s a timely reminder to ensure all alcohol is secured and not left unattended in external fridges.”
The 36-year-old was charged with:
Stealing
Consuming liquor in a restricted area
Breach of bail
Drive an unregistered/uninsured vehicle
He was remanded to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court 29 January.
The 25-year-old was charged with:
Stealing
Possessing liquor in a restricted area
He was bailed to appear in Alyangula Magistrates Court on 18 February.
