Sexual Assault - Public Assistance Sought - Nhulunbuy

Northern Territory Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Nhulunbuy.

Acting Superintendent Scott Manley said Police allege an unknown man sexually assaulted a 31-year-old woman in the vicinity of the car park on Eugenia Avenue at around 10:45pm, Wednesday 5 August.

“She was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital yesterday afternoon and remains in a stable condition.

“The woman provided information to Detectives last night and described the offender as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged between 18 and 20 years, short in stature and skinny build.

“He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, possibly with a hood, long baggy shorts and tan coloured work boots.

“Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit have travelled to Nhulunbuy to investigate the matter and enquiries are ongoing.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the assault or anyone who may have any further information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
