Rock Throwing - Youth Arrested - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 13-year-old male youth in relation to a rock throwing incident in the Northern Suburbs yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Kerry Hoskins, Officer In Charge of Casuarina Police Station, said Police allege the youth threw a rock at a bus at the Lee Point Road and Vanderlin Drive roundabout at 7:10pm.

“The youth was arrested this morning, he remains in custody and is assisting Police with their enquiries.”

Over the weekend Police received a further three reports of rock throwing incidents including:

- A bus travelling on Moulden Terrace at round 7:20pm Friday.

- A bus travelling on Sibbald Crescent in Woodroffe at around 7:30pm Friday.

- A bus travelling along Bagot Road at around 5:45pm on Sunday.

- A group of four male youths were witnessed throwing rocks at passing vehicles on Vanderlin Drive in Karama at 11pm on Sunday.

“These incidents are extremely dangerous and could have had tragic consequences, fortunately in this instance no one was injured,” Senior Sergeant Hoskins said.

“Police urge anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or anyone who may have any information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
