Detectives from the Southern Investigation Section have charged two female youths in relation to an alleged robbery at a shopping centre in Alice Springs CBD.

Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Malley said the two youths aged 13 and 14 approached a 60-year-old woman at the shopping centres car park at around 10:45am yesterday.

“Police allege the youths allegedly assaulted the woman before stealing her handbag and fleeing the scene.

“The youths were arrested by Police a short time later and charged with robbery and breach of bail.

“They were remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today.”
