Reminder – Fireworks

Police

NT Police remind the public that it is an offence to possess or discharge fireworks outside the prescribed Territory Day hours.

“There have been a number of seizures and infringements issued to people who have been found in the possession of fireworks,” Duty Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said.

“It became an offence to possess fireworks at 12pm on Thursday 2 July, and people can be fined more than $1200.

“We encourage you to surrender your fireworks, and you can do so, no questions asked. However, please do not hand them in to your local police station. Contact NT WorkSafe on 1800 019 115 to arrange surrender of your unused fireworks.”
