A RECIDIVIST youth property offender has had fresh charges laid in relation to two more unlawful entries in Darwin.
Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer of Strike Force Trident said the 16-year-old male allegedly unlawfully entered a property in Brinkin in the early hours of October 11, causing damage to the property before taking a Toyota Hilux from the garage.
“Later that evening, he was captured on CCTV footage at a service station as an occupant of a white Toyota Camry, stolen from a home in Durack on October 3,” Senior Sergeant Stringer said. “The car pulled up and the occupants abandoned the vehicle.
“On November 13, the youth unlawfully entered a home in Fannie Bay. He was disturbed while in the home and escaped by breaking a window, cutting himself in the process.
“DNA recovered from items left at the scene of the unlawful entry in Brinkin and in the stolen Camry, as well as blood from the window of the home in Fannie Bay linked the 16-year-old to all three offences.”
The youth is currently on remand in the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre on unrelated matters.
He has been charged with:
- Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
- Damage property (x2)
- Stealing
- Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
- Unlawfully entre dwelling (x2)
He will appear in Darwin Youth Court on December 3.
