Public Assistance Sought – Aggravated Robbery – Darwin

Serious Crime Detectives are currently investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred in Darwin overnight.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Karl Day said it is alleged that just after 10:00pm three men were approached by two unknown male offenders on Casuarina Drive, Nightcliff. 

“A confrontation has occurred between the groups resulting in the three men being assaulted with glass bottles, threatened into their vehicle by the offenders, and forced to drive to an ATM in Leanyer.

“Once at the ATM, the three men were threatened into withdrawing a sum of cash, before the offenders fled in the victims’ car. It was later located burnt out on Vanderlin Drive.

“St John Ambulance attended and treated the three males for minor injuries.”

The alleged offenders are described as:

  • Offender one – being of Aboriginal appearance, 185cm tall and of athletic build.
  • Offender two – being of Aboriginal appearance, 190cm tall and of solid build with a mullet style haircut and tattoo on his stomach.

"Police urge anyone who may have any information in relation to this incident, or anyone who may recognise the individuals described to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Day.
