Detectives from Strike Force Trident have charged a 17-year-old male in relation to alleged unlawful entries and the theft of several motor vehicles across Darwin and Palmerston.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police allege the youth unlawfully entered two residences in Woodroffe between 16 -17 December and stole a Toyota Hilux and Nissan X-Trail.
“It is alleged the youth drove the Toyota Hilux to a service station in Durack and stole $4 worth of petrol.
“Police also alleged the youth stole a Toyota Corolla from a service station in Darwin CBD on Sunday, 10 May.
“Police estimate the total value of property stolen was around $33,900, all three vehicles have since been recovered.
“The youth was arrested by Police on Bathurst Island yesterday and brought back to Darwin.”
He was charged with:
Trespass
Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x3)
Stealing
Drive Unlicensed (x2)
Breach of bail
Drive in a manner dangerous
He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court today.
