A 42-year-old fully patched Outlaw Motorcycle Gang member will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today following an assault on a bus driver in Palmerston

Senior Constable Brendon Hogan said Police will allege on Monday 20 July the man forced a bus driver to stop whilst traveling along the Stuart Highway, Pinelands.

“The man has approached the driver and began verbally abusing him, before pulling open his window and punching him in the face.

“The man was arrested by the Gangs Taskforce yesterday. A warrant was conducted at his property with Police seizing an unregistered firearm, and ammunition.

“Several other items of concern were also located including balaclavas, a hunting knife and gang paraphernalia.”

He was charged with:

  • Assault on a worker causing serious harm
  • Dangerous driving
  • Disorderly behaviour in a public place
  • Possess a prohibited firearm without license
  • Possess ammunition without license
  • Fail to meet storage requirements (firearm)
  • Fail to meet storage requirements (ammunition)

“Police will continue to target those who inflict fear and violence upon others. This incident is particularly concerning given the unprovoked nature of the attack,” said Senior Constable Hogan.
