NT Police will support Central Australia AFL (CAFL) in taking a stand against domestic violence and family violence throughout Lightning Carnival this Easter weekend.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Dash said NT Police will continue to support initiatives such as the ‘No More’ campaign, which is aimed at educating the community about domestic and family violence, with the ultimate goal of creating safer communities.

“NT Police take a zero tolerance approach to domestic violence. The NT Police is a White Ribbon accredited organisation and we support the work and goals of programs such as the ‘No More’ campaign.  The work that the ‘No More’ campaign has done with football teams in the Northern Territory, particularly the Nightcliff Football Club, is a credit to it and highlights that we all need to stand together to tackle domestic and family violence.

“It is a sad indictment that some people in our community still think that it is acceptable to commit acts violence or tolerate other family members who commit these offences upon their family members. 

“NT Police will stand alongside CAFL and community members and link arms at the Lightning Carnival in a united stand and pledge ‘No More’ domestic and family violence in our communities,” Detective Senior Sergeant Dash said.

CAFL General Manager Andy Hood said, “Once again it shows how sport in particular AFL can work together to assist in developing strong outcomes and work with community teams to raise awareness about an issue that is pretty prominent in Central Australia. We are extremely proud to be involved.”
