The CEO of Fire and Emergency Services, Reece Kershaw and Chief Fire Officer Steve Rothwell have welcomed Mr Paul Swain AFSM to the position of NTFRS Deputy Chief Fire Officer.

“Mr Swain’s fire service career spans 31 years with two agencies. He was most notably the Australian Capital Territory  Fire and Rescue Services Chief Officer from 2010 to 2014.” Mr Kershaw said. “Prior to joining ACT F&RS, Mr Swain was with the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade and has held Senior Management roles since 2001. Mr Swain was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2001.”

Mr Rothwell added that Mr Swain brings significant operational experience across the fire and emergency management spectrum dealing with many complex and protracted incidents.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank District Officer Mark Spain for acting in the role of Deputy Chief Fire Officer during the recruitment process,” Mr Rothwell said.

Mr Swain commenced duties with NT Fire and Rescue Service on Wednesday 29 July.
