Additional volunteers have been deployed from Alice Springs and Hermannsburg to assist the ground search for a woman missing in Central Australia since yesterday morning.
A helicopter search this morning failed to locate the 64-year-old woman from Millicent, South Australia.
“We are very concerned for her welfare, having been out since yesterday morning without provisions,” Superintendent Don Fry said.
The woman became separated from her husband while walking and failed to return to her camp at the Salt Creek rest area on Luritja Road.
Police, NT Emergency Service personnel and volunteers have seen searching for her since.
The search now involves more than 20 people covering an area of approximately 80km2.
The woman’s husband has remained at the site and is assisting with the search.
