Katherine Police continue to search for a 52-year-old missing man who is believed to have fallen into the Katherine River late last night.

Commander Bruce Porter from the Northern Command said Police received reports that a man had fallen from the Katherine Bridge at approximately 10:15pm.

“The incident was witnessed by the man’s partner.

“Katherine Police and NT Emergency Service Volunteers attended and searched the area on foot and in flood boats well into the night. The search recommenced at first light today.

“The missing man is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, 170cm tall and of thin build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a patterned long sleeve shirt, denim jeans and work boots.

“Police urge anyone who may have seen this man or who may have witnessed this incident to contact them on 131 444 or triple zero ‘000’ in an emergency.”
