Methamphetamine, firearms seized - Alice Springs

Detectives from the Southern Investigations Division have executed a search warrant at an Alice Springs address in Sadadeen.

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Philips said Police allegedly uncovered drugs, weapons and fireworks during the search yesterday afternoon.

“A 41-year-old male has been arrested and charged with several serious offences.

“Police will allege the man is involved in the sale and supply of methamphetamine and other drugs in Alice Springs.

“Allegedly located at the residence were 7 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of cannabis, an unregistered shotgun, a modified ‘sawn off’ shotgun, a significant quantity of unsecured ammunition, a knuckleduster and knife, in excess of $7,000 cash and a large box of fireworks.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Phillips said the man has been charged with possess and supply methamphetamine, possess cannabis, possess unregistered firearms, possess a modified firearm, possess prohibited weapons, possess tainted property and possess fireworks.

He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 19 May.

“Northern Territory Police are extremely relieved to have these weapons and drugs off the streets.  Methamphetamine destroys lives and families and we urge all Territorians to help us get these drugs and drug dealers off our streets.
