Man Charged - Methamphetamine Seized

Police

Task Force Nemesis Detectives have charged a 41-year-old male following the seizure of a large quantity of methamphetamine.

Detective Acting Superintendent Clint Sims said the male was arrested at Darwin Airport on Saturday morning.

“He was found to be carrying 120 grams of methamphetamine in his carry-on luggage. Police will also allege that the male was traveling under a false identification.”

He was charged with:

  • Supply a schedule one drug – commercial quantity
  • Possess a schedule one drug – commercial quantity
  • Use false ID to obtain air ticket
  • Breach of bail

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“These drugs would be worth more than $120,000 if they had been sold on the streets of Darwin,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Sims.

“The damage these drugs do to our community is well documented so Task Force Nemesis Detectives will be continuing to actively detect persons responsible for bringing “ice” into the Northern Territory.”
