Man Charged – Aggravated Assault – Fannie Bay

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 21-year-old male following an aggravated assault in Fannie Bay overnight.

Sergeant Drew Slape from the City Safe and Licencing Patrol Unit said it is alleged that just after 10:00pm a 31-year-old male was confronted outside his workplace by another employee.

“An altercation has occurred with the 21-year-old employee producing a knife and attempting to stab his co-worker.

“Luckily the victim was able to avoid the knife a number of times before running from the scene.

“Police were called and the 21-year-old male was arrested at his residence early this morning.”

He was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering serious harm, armed with a controlled weapon, threats to kill and going armed in public. He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court at a later date.

“This type of violent impulsive conduct can have tragic consequences, the victim is extremely lucky to be able to walk away unscathed from this attack,” said Sergeant Slape.
