Indecent Assault - Public Assistance Sought - Darwin City

Police are seeking public assistance in relation to an indecent assault that occurred in the Darwin CBD.

Detective First Class Constable Maria Karpathakis said a 20-year-old woman was leaving a licensed establishment on Mitchell Street, near Knuckey Street, at around 4am yesterday when she was approached by an unknown man.

“It is alleged offender followed the woman a short distance to the Esplanade before he indecently assaulted her.

“The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged in his 30’s solid build, approximately 172cm tall, with medium length hair and has a chubby face with bags under his eyes.

“He was wearing a dark blue Polo shirt with white markings along the shoulder area and a logo on the right chest area. He was also wearing light beige shorts and thongs.”

Police urge anyone who may have information in relation to this incident, particularly anyone in the vicinity of Mitchell Street and Knuckey Street between 4.00am to 5.30am to contact Police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
