Hydroponic System Dismantled - Katherine

Detectives from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk have seized cannabis and dismantled a hydroponic system following a search warrant at a residence in Katherine South yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said as a result of the search Police located two separate hydroponic cannabis rooms with multiple cannabis plants.

Police seized 26 cannabis plants, 45 grams of cannabis plant material, equipment from both hydroponic rooms, drug paraphernalia and unsecure ammunition.

“Police arrested a 42-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, a 24-year-old man was also issued a Drug Infringement Notice.”

The 42-year-old man was charged with:

  • Cultivate cannabis – commercial quantity
  • Possess cannabis
  • Possess implement
  • Possess fireworks

The 60-year-old woman was charged with:

  • Cultivated cannabis – trafficable quantity
  • Possess cannabis
  • Possess implement
  • Possess ammunition without a licence
  • Fail to meet storage requirements

Both will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court on Thursday, 22 October.
