NT Police confirm they have been assisting Queensland Police with their investigation into the 2009 murder of Lainie Coldwell in Charleville.

This week Queensland Police charged 42-year-old Louis Mahony with his wife’s murder.

Commander Michael Murphy confirmed that Mahony is a former NT Police Officer.

“Louis Mahony joined NT Police in 2002 and served in Tennant Creek, Borroloola and Darwin as a general duties constable,” Commander Murphy said.

“Mahony was not subject to any criminal investigations while he was in the Northern Territory Police Force.

“He resigned from the Northern Territory Police Force in 2007, two years prior to his wife’s death.”
