The Northern Territory road toll has risen to 41 following a crash in Katherine this afternoon.
Emergency services are currently on the scene of a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway 12km south of Katherine.
“A troop carrier with 11 occupants on board has rolled over just before 4pm. Two occupants are confirmed deceased, two are in a critical condition. Other injuries are unknown at this stage,” Superintendent Megan Rowe said.
“Traffic diversions are in place and road trains are advised to avoid the area.”
Motorists are asked to slow down and obey all traffic instructions.
The road toll for the same time last year was 35.
