The Northern Territory road toll has risen to 27 following the death of a pedestrian in Humpty Doo last night.
Superintendent Bob Rennie said a female was struck by a vehicle as she was crossing the Arnhem Highway at around 9:00pm.
"Emergency Services treated the pedestrian at the scene but she passed away a short time later.
“The 85-year-old female driver was also treated for shock.
"A section of the Arnhem Highway was closed overnight and was reopened at around 8:00am.
"Members from the Major Crash Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the driver is assisting with enquiries.”
The road toll for the same time last year was 24.
Police will now prepare a file for the Coroner.
