A 40-year-old male pilot has been killed near Waterloo Station close to the WA / NT border.
Acting Superintendent Meghan Funnell said the crash was reported to Timber Creek Police at around midday today.
“First responders from a near-by station and staff from the local clinic attended the scene, provided medical aid and transported the pilot to where he could be picked up by a Careflight aircraft.
“Unfortunately he has died of his injuries this afternoon.
“The circumstances surrounding the crash of the R-44 helicopter will be investigated by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)”
