A 54-year-old woman has died after she fell from a quad bike at Daly River this afternoon.

Territory Duty Superintendent Del Jones said the woman was sitting on a quad bike, which was being towed by an all-terrain vehicle, when she fell from it at around 5pm.

"Daly River Police, members from the local clinic and CareFlight attended, however the woman passed away at the scene a short time later.

"Members from the Major Crash Unit are investigating.

"The Northern Territory road toll now stands at 24 compared to 22 for the same time last year."

A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
