The Territory road toll has climbed to 9 following the death of a pedestrian in Alice Springs yesterday.
Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said the 36-year-old female was struck by a passing motor vehicle on the south Stuart Highway between Palm Circuit and Commonage Road just before 8:00 pm.
“It appears the woman may have been lying on the road at the time of the incident. The driver stopped and called for help.
“Police and emergency services attended however unfortunately the victim passed away at the scene.
“Police are calling for any witnesses who were travelling north or south along the Stuart Highway between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm who may have seen the victim.
“The woman is described as of Aboriginal appearance, average build, and 164 cm tall with brown hair wearing a dark t-shirt and dark track suit pants.”
