The Territory road toll has risen to 32 following a fatal crash in Alice Springs.

A 25-year-old man died shortly after 3:00am today when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree on the Stuart Highway near Sargent Street.

Investigations are underway and traffic management is in place on the Stuart Highway between Basso Road and Herbert Heritage Drive.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully and follow all traffic instructions.

The road toll for the same time last year was 27.
