Detectives from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk have seized a quantity of cannabis, methamphetamine and MDMA tables and charged two men during two separate searches in Katherine.
Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said Police apprehended a Holden Commodore sedan on Kirkpatrick Street at around 1:45pm yesterday and conducted a search of the vehicle.
“As a result of the search Police located and seized 30 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
“Police also conducted a search of the hotel room he was staying at in Katherine. Police located a further 180 grams of cannabis, 4.5 grams of methamphetamine and 1.5 grams of MDMA tablets.
“Police seized the drugs and the vehicle.”
The 34-year-old man was charged with:
- Possess cannabis – public place
- Possess thing – administer a dangerous drug
- Possess cannabis – trafficable quantity
- Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug (MDMA)
- Possess methamphetamine – trafficable quantity
In a separate incident Police conducted a search warrant at a hotel room in Katherine yesterday, Police located 90 grams of cannabis and a quantity of cash.
“A 55-year-old man was charged with possess and supply a trafficable quantity of cannabis, receive property and possess thing to administer a dangerous drug,” Detective Sergeant Kennon said
Both men were remanded in custody and will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court today.
