Drug Syndicate Dismantled - Darwin

Task Force Nemesis Detectives have charged a male and female following a five month operation into the sale of methamphetamine and cannabis in the Territory.

Superintendent Clint Sims said the pair was arrested yesterday following a number of warrants executed at residences in Darwin.

“A total of 200 grams of methamphetamine was seized, along with 1.3kg of cannabis, other drug paraphernalia, four vehicles, a stolen firearm, unsecured ammunition, a set of knuckle dusters and fireworks.

“Police will allege the pair was involved in a syndicate that profited from the sale of methamphetamines in the Darwin area and the sale of cannabis to remote communities around the Territory.

A 27-year-old male was charged with:

  • Supply methamphetamine commercial quantity              
  • Supply methamphetamine                              
  • Supply schedule 2 drug commercial quantity              
  • Possess methamphetamine commercial quantity             
  • Possess schedule 2 commercial quantity              
  • Possess cannabis - trafficable quantity             
  • Unlawfully supply cannabis to another               
  • Supply dangerous drug in community                  
  • Receive property - commission of offence             
  • Possess a prohibited weapon                
  • Possess  fireworks outside approved period              
  • Possess firearm whilst unlicensed             
  • Unlawfully possess property                         
  • Possess ammunition without permit/licence
  • Fail to meet storage requirements   

A 25-year-old female was charged with:

  • Supply methamphetamine                              
  • Unlawfully supply cannabis to another               
  • Possess cannabis - trafficable quantity             
  • Receive property - commission of offence             
  • Receive stolen property                             
  • Possess firearm whilst unlicensed             
  • Possess use or carry a prohibited weapon                
  • Possess fireworks outside approved period              
  • Possess ammunition without permit/licence              
  • Fail comply with storage requirements

They will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.  

“Whilst these are significant arrests for Task Force Nemesis, investigations are ongoing and more arrests can be expected,” Superintendent Sims said.
