An elderly woman has drowned in a floodway on Dook Creek 4km west of Beswick Community.
Commander Bruce Porter said that Police travelling to Beswick via helicopter observed a vehicle stranded in the floodway. It is believed at this time that the vehicle with 5 occupants became stranded and the woman has drowned. Investigations are continuing with a report for the coroner to be provided.
"This is the second person who has been washed away in a flooded creek since Christmas. Again, I urge people to avoid taking unnecessary risks on the roads and avoid driving into floodways" Commander Porter said.
