Katherine Police have charged a 22-year-old man in relation to the alleged aggravated assault and breach of a Domestic Violence Order against his 20-year-old partner.

Detective Sergeant Luke Dalgliesh said Police allege the offender struck his 20-year-old partner several times and threatened her with an axe on 25 April.

“He was arrested by Police at a residence in Katherine last night.

He was charged with:

Aggravated assault

Breach Domestic Violence Order

Armed with an offensive weapon

Threats to kill a person

Threats to cause injury or detriment

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court today.
