Domestic Violence Charges - Alice Springs

A 20-year-old man will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court following the alleged assault of a 20-year-old woman.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the alleged offender and the woman were involved in an altercation early yesterday morning at a residence in Alice Springs.

“Police will allege the offender struck the victim a number of times with a pair of crutches.

“The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for injuries to her arms.

“Detectives from Strike Force Romulus arrested the man a short time later.

"He was charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and engage in conduct that contravenes a Domestic Violence Order.

“This type of violent and controlling behaviour by domestic violence perpetrators will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Safety is everyone’s right.”

 

The man was refused bail and will appear in court today.
