A 31-year-old man will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court following a domestic violence incident in Katherine early yesterday morning.

Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said the man was observed at a service station allegedly forcing his partner into a vehicle at around 4:30am before driving west along the Victoria Highway.

“Police allege the vehicle the offender was driving had been stolen from a residence in Woolner earlier this month.

“Police located the male at his residence in Katherine a short time later and executed a search warrant.

“Police located and seized a less than trafficable quantity of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and the stolen motor vehicle.”

He was charged with:
Aggravated assault

Engage in a conduct that breaches a DVO

Deprive a person of liberty

Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle

Fail to keep left

Drive unlicensed

Possess a dangerous drug (cannabis)

Possess thing – administer dangerous drug

He will appear in court today.
