Police

The Cross Border Team arrested a 38-year-old man yesterday for possession of cannabis.

Cross Border Team members conducting road block operations, intercepted a man who was in possession of an amount of cannabis destined for Mt Liebig.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Bedwell said that NT Police set up a road block north of Alice Springs on Monday morning.

“At about 8:20am the suspect was stopped in his vehicle and was subjected to a search.

“Drug detector dog Wilson indicated the presence of an illicit drug in luggage at the rear of the utility.

“A subsequent search of the luggage found approximately one and a half ounces of cannabis.”

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possess cannabis.

He was bailed to appear before the Alice Springs Magistrates court on Tuesday 29 December 2015.

“This is another great result for the Cross Border Team and we will continue to reduce the transport of illicit substances into remote communities,” said Andy Bedwell.
