Crime Spree - Three Youths Arrested - Winnellie

Strike Force Trident Detectives have arrested three male youths in relation to a property crime spree in Winnellie earlier this week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police allege the youths broke into four businesses in the Winnellie industrial area between 6 and 7 of October.

“It is alleged the youths stole a Volkswagen Polo and drove it through the gates of a business causing extensive damage to the gate. The vehicle was located by Police on Benison Road after it had been abandoned.

“Police allege the youths stole a second vehicle from another business, a Toyota LandCruiser, and drove it through the gates causing extensive damage. The vehicle remains outstanding.

“Police estimate the total cost of damage to be $14,000.

“The youths were arrested on Wednesday night in Millner.”

Two males aged 11 and 12 were charged with:

  • Damage to property (x12)
  • Trespass (x18)
  • Stealing
  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2)
  • Brach of bail (x2)

They will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.

A 12-year-old male received Youth Diversion.
