Charges – Unlawful Entry – Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged two people in relation to two unlawful entries, criminal damage and thefts from businesses in the Darwin CBD this week.

“Police allege that about 2:00am on 28 November a 43-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman attempted to break into a licensed premises on the Esplanade,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer.

“The attempt was unsuccessful; however the offenders were identified on CCTV. On Tuesday 1 December, another licensed premises on Cavanagh Street was broken into and a quantity of liquor stolen. CCTV footage was used to identify the same offenders and a third, unknown male.”

The two were arrested shortly after with liquor in their possession.

The woman has been charged with:

  • Damage to property (x2)
  • Attempt to commit a crime
  • Unlawful entry
  • Stealing

The man has been charged with:

  • Stealing (x2)
  • Damage to property
  • Unlawful entry

They were remanded in custody to appear in court today.

Investigations are continuing to identify the co-offenders.
