Charges – Drug and Traffic Offences - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old female with multiple drug and traffic offences.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said the woman was arrested yesterday morning after failing to stop at a Random Breath Testing (RBT) station in Parap.

“She was waved into the RBT station, where she stopped momentarily.  She then accelerated heavily and drove off, narrowly missing a Police Officer in the process.

“A short time later, members located the vehicle abandoned on the corner of the Stuart Highway and Tivendale Road. The alleged offender was arrested nearby.

“Upon search of the vehicle Police located two grams of methamphetamine, a small quantity of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a shoe box containing a large quantity of alleged stolen mail.”

She was charged with:

  • Fail to obey direction of a Police Officer
  • Drive motor vehicle in dangerous manner
  • Drive motor vehicle whilst unlicensed
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • Drive under the influence of drugs
  • Fail to comply with traffic signs
  • Possession of schedule one drug – traffickable
  • Possess thing to administer drug
  • Theft of mail (x23)

She will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court this afternoon.
