Cannabis Seized - Nhulunbuy

Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad have charged a 30-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman with drug offences following the seizure of 5.4 kilograms of cannabis in Nhulunbuy.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said Police intercepted and seized 3.6 kilograms of cannabis at the post office on Monday.

“Police also executed a search warrant at a residence in Nhulunbuy and seized a further 1.8 kilograms of cannabis, $17,750 in cash, cryovac packaging, an air rifle, two vehicles and a quantity of fireworks.

“The pair were both charged with possess and supply a commercial quantity of cannabis, possess fireworks outside designated time and possess a firearm without a permit.”

They will appear in Nhulunbuy Magistrates Court on 30 June.
