Cannabis Seized – Mt Liebig

NT Police from Papunya arrested two men after they seized a trafficable quantity of cannabis near Mt Liebig on 11 November.

Superintendent Don Fry said Police apprehended a white Holden Commodore between Mt Liebig and Papunya at around 4:00pm.

“Police conducted a search of the vehicle after it was pulled over for an RBT and they noticed a strong smell of cannabis. They located 170 grams of cannabis and one litre of rum.”

A 30-year-old male and a 21-year-old male were both arrested and charged with:

  • Possess cannabis – trafficable quantity
  • Possess/ control liquor – Alcohol Protected Area

They were bailed to appear in Court in Papunya on 10 December 2015.

“This is another great result for Police. Alcohol and drugs coming into our communities have big impacts on safety and remain an ongoing priority for us,” Superintendent Fry said.
