Cannabis Seized - Katherine

Police have charged a 37-year-old man with drug offences and seized a commercial quantity of cannabis in Katherine.

Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said members from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk located and seized nine kilograms of cannabis at a business in Katherine over the weekend.

“Police also executed a search warrant at a residence in Katherine and seized a less than trafficable quantity of cannabis and cannabis seeds, drug paraphernalia a quantity of fireworks.”

Police arrested a 37-year-old man and charged him with:

Supply cannabis – commercial quantity

Possess cannabis – commercial quantity

Possess cannabis (seeds)

Possess fireworks

Possess thing to administer a dangerous drug

He will appear in Katherine Magistrates Court on 21 September.

“Police will continue to target the people dealing in these illicit substances,” Detective Sergeant Kennon said.

“Police urge anyone with information about the supply and distribution of illicit substances in the Northern Territory to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
